McLanahan Named OKC Metro Player of the Year, 13 of 16 Honorees Since 2009, Played for Oklahoma City FC
NORMAN, Okla. (June 10, 2025) - One of Oklahoma’s top prep athletes added another accolade to her growing resume as Oklahoma City FC forward Rylee McLanahan was named the 2025 OKC Metro High School Girls Soccer Player of the Year at a ceremony held Tuesday evening at the Young Family Athletic Center in Norman. A junior at Edmond North, McLanahan set the Oklahoma girls’ single-season scoring record with 42 goals, leading the Huskies to the OSSAA Class 6A State Championship finals. She has also shined on the international stage, captaining the U.S. Under-17 Women’s National Team to the gold medal at the 2024 Concacaf Women’s U-17 Championship in Toluca, Mexico. McLanahan is currently on the U.S. U-18 Women’s National Team training roster. A University of Florida commit in the Class of 2026, McLanahan has carried her momentum into the summer WPSL season, registering three goals and a team-high five assists in five matches with Oklahoma City FC. The ScissorTails (5-0-1) sit atop the WPSL’s Heartland Division standings and are set to host unbeaten defending conference champion Union KC (3-0-1) at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Mustang High School. McLanahan joins an impressive lineage of OKC Metro Players of the Year who have played for Oklahoma City FC. Since 2009, 13 of the last 16 honorees have played in the Women’s Premier Soccer League for Oklahoma City.
