MCKINNEY, TEXAS — Yazmeen Ryan scored in the first minute of second-half stoppage time to give visiting Oklahoma City FC a 2-1 victory at Texas Spurs FC.
Ryan (Norman/TCU) won a challenge just inside the top of the penalty box and abruptly stopped to allow the Spurs defender's momentum to carry her toward goal, giving Ryan space to shoot uncontested into the bottom left corner.
Spurs forward AK Ward scored the match's first goal in the fifth minute, but Oklahoma City FC quickly equalized four minutes later with Ivanna Rivas' wonder striker from 20 yards outside the penalty box. Rivas (Edmond/University of Oklahoma) arched the ball high into the air over the keeper's head and into the back left corner to equalize.
The win moves Oklahoma City FC into a tie with Fortuna Tulsa for third place in the Southwest Conference. Both are one point behind second place FC Wichita with two matches remaining for each club.
Oklahoma City FC hosts Fortuna Tulsa on Monday at Bryan Young Memorial Stadium in Norman. It is Oklahoma City FC's final 2018 home match. Oklahoma City won 1-0 in the first 2018 meeting between the two clubs at Tulsa in May.
Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Tickets for Monday's match are $5 each and available at the stadium. For more information, please visit oklahomacityfc.com.
