OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma City FC’s losing streak reached three matches as it lost to WPSL rivals FC Dallas 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at Mid-American Christian University.
FC Dallas defender Halee Sowinski (Baylor) scored two goals and was named player of the match.
Anna Gornell (Oral Roberts) scored the home side’s only goal in the 52nd minute. She used her hip to deflect Jaclyn Purvine’s (Moore/Arkansas-Little Rock) corner kick cross into the net from point-blank. It was Gornell’s first goal of the season.
FC Dallas’ Tahlor Lyman scored the match’s first goal in the sixth minute on an unassisted deflection inside the box.
Sowinski scored her first goal in the 22nd minute on Brittany Martin’s through-ball inside the box, which left her one-on-one with Oklahoma City FC goalkeeper Hensley Hancuff (Edmond/Villanova).
With the wind at its back during the second half, Oklahoma City FC threatened to equalize after Gornell’s goal. But Sowinski ended any hopes of Oklahoma City FC earning a point with her second goal in the 78th minute. Haley Smith assisted the match’s final goal.
Oklahoma City FC’s remaining two home matches will be at Norman North High School, and the next match vs. Texas Spurs FC is Saturday at 5 p.m. Tickets are $5 and available at the gate. For more information go online to OklahomaCityFC.com or call (405) 601-0025.
