Oklahoma City FC records 1-0 victory over rival Tulsa SC

 

        MUSTANG, Okla.  -  Forward Emma Rice put home a penalty kick in the 37th minute to lift Oklahoma City FC to a 1-0 win at home Wednesday over in-state rival Tulsa SC.

 

        The win secured Oklahoma City FC’s first two-game season sweep over their in-state rivals since the club’s began facing one another in 2018.  In the 10 WPSL meetings between the teams, nine games have been decided by one goal or less and the all-time series now stands even at 4-4-2.  Both of the 2023 matchups ended in 1-0 decisions.

 

        Oklahoma City goalkeepers Sophie Augustin and Olivia Vigil split duties and secured their second combined shutout of the season – both against Tulsa SC - recording four saves on the night.

 

        The win moves Oklahoma City FC to 2-2-1 on the season and within striking distance of the leaders in the in the WPSL’s competitive Red River Conference standings as only five points separate the top four teams.  Oklahoma City hits the road for a pair of games in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex – as they take on FC Dallas Saturday and face defending conference champion DKSC BADTOP next Wednesday.
